Non Working "Intrusion Detection"

Getting the hang of it

I recently set up a DS-7608NI-M2/8P NVR 5.0 with six DS-2CD2087G2-L cameras, and everything is working well except for the "Intrusion Detection" feature. I've followed all the setup steps, including enabling it in "Event Control" and "Event Config," but nothing seems to work. If anyone has a solution, I would really appreciate the help. I tried contacting Hikvision Technical Support via their toll-free number, but I was never able to speak with anyone. I kept getting a message saying there was a 10-minute wait, which only repeated every 30 minutes, and after three hours, I finally gave up. This is my second 7600 series NVR, but this one is the supposed newer version 5.0.

Update – April 15, 2024:
Big thanks to B&H for helping get in touch with Hikvision and figuring out that the issue was with the new NVR. It’s been a few weeks since the replacement was installed, and so far, everything's been working well—aside from the pop-up window that shows up when an intrusion is detected, which doesn’t really bother me.
One thing I want to mention is B&H’s return policy. To avoid any downtime with my security system, I had to purchase a new NVR and then return the defective one for a refund. Thankfully, that whole process went smoothly.

Can't help you with the question because I finally got rid of my last Hikvision LOL.

But sorry you wasted 3 hours on the phone.

Unless you bought from a Hikvision Authorized Installer, you wouldn't get anywhere. They will ask for the serial number and then tell you it is grey market and talk to who you bought it from.

The homeowner isn't the Hikvision and Dahua target audience, it is the professional installers/dealers, so we cannot purchase directly and thus they will not take your phone call for support related questions - they will tell you to talk to the installer you purchased from.

Many people have bought a Hikvision or Dahua from Amazon or some shady foreign website and when they call Hikvision or Dahua for support they basically tell them to go pound salt.

We simply are not their intended market to sell to and they will not take your call for support...

Lot's of threads here confirming this, including one from a few months ago where someone tried to call for support and they told them sorry talk to your installer....

Can I see a picture of your devices Trigger Control or Linkage Method and your storage setup for Recording and Snapshots if you care about snapshots.. Also storage Management would be nice to see... For me I have it setup recording footage 75% and snapshots to 25% and setup to overwrite..

I'm seeing more posts about intrusion detection not working on 2XX7 G2 cameras. Not a lot, but across both forums there are now several posts. I've posted about my own problems with that camera version.

Thank you for the response. Hikvision has it's faults but I've dealt with other manufactures that were way worse, believe it or not.

After talking to B&H and Hikvision Tech Support on a conference call it was determined I had a defective NVR and there was nothing I could have done to solve the problem. Replacement is on the way and I will be updating soon. Fingers Crossed and that you for your response.

Hopefully this replacement will solve the problem. Here's hoping it's not the cameras. Thank you for your response.
