my dad has some Dahua cams that were professionally installed and the quality but now that I am looking for myself I have a few questions
1. Looking at eBay I see some say firmware upgradable but others are not. Can somebody explain why.

2. Will all of them work with a Dahua nvr, will be a later purchase.

3 best camera recommendation would like to keep it under 100 per camera

You have to be careful purchasing from Ebay or Amazon.
You run the risk that you will get a China Region cam, that has been hacked to English.
So it's firmware in a lot of case's isn't upgradeable.
They are of lesser quality, and can possibly develop all sorts of issues.

So that’s is the difference one is a hacked china version and one is US. That makes sense any thing else I need to look out for.

I would highly recommend ordering directly from Andy @ Empire Technology here on the forums. Admittedly, I was skeptical at first, but he was great to deal with and the 16 or so cams I ordered came quickly and worked very well...all Dahua unbranded with English firmware.
