Ok, so the backstory is that I live in a rural area with no real ISP options. I have over air internet provided by NextLink, so I don't have a WAN per say, but the satellite dish is connected to a POE port on the wifi router. The download and upload speeds suck and they lock down the router, so I can make no adjustments to the provided router.

I tried to install OpenVPN on my BI server without success. I can't assign static IP's on any machine without loosing internet connection. So, the ultimate goal is having a VPN to view remotely.

I may be overthinking this, but could I install a small POE switch for the satellite input and the ISP provided microtik router to handle my normal wifi traffic? Then use an Asus non-wifi router to manage the rest of my network? I'm having trouble visualizing the dual router network and getting OpenVPN to work.

In my mind, it would be set up like:
1: Satellite dish from ISP
2: Small POE switch (something similar)
2a: Microtik Router (handles wifi connections)
2b: ASUS managed non-wifi router
3: Trunk switch (something similar)
3a: BI server - POE switch that connects up to 6 IP cameras
3b: whatever other network connected devises.
