Nest Thermostat with Home Assistant?

Which thermostat are you using with full Home Assistant integration?

Important Items Include:
-Classy looking. The Nest display with the stainless steel ring has a nice look and feel.
-Full integration with Home Assistant.
-No batteries

I recently installed one of the cheaper Nest thermostats where the functionality was not obvious (you could not rotate a ring to adjust…), it took batteries and it did not look as nice as the flagship model. Oh and the biggest issue is that the Nest App was NOT SUPPORTED. You had to use Google Home Assistant or some such. For me this is a showstopper. Since this was not my home, it was not my call. But this user now has to use two different apps to adjust two different Nest thermostats.

So, let’s assume for the moment that the flagship Google Nest thermostat works with the Nest app…. Is this thing fully Home Assistant compatible and controllable….?

What are the downsides of the Nest HA combination?

I replaced my Nest thermostat with an Ecobee. From what I read, it was a pain in the caboose to try and integrate Nest into Home Assistant. So I didn't even try. Ecobee was a breeze to integrate with HA.

I'm doing a lot of research into HA and Frigate. Personally, I find a lot more info in the r/homeassisant subreddit and Home Assistant Community

Not sure how many HA experts there are here and you may find your answer but I'm sure it's been covered in both the above forums.
