Hi all,

I am a new member and I would like some assistance of what to purchase.

I called around in my area and I got some prices ranging from 1500-4k for system and installation.

I know not to use cheaper systems from Costco and bjs, and was looking into either a 4 channel/camera ip or digital.

Either 4 hikvision cameras $115 each with a hikvision DVR and a purple HD and would run the cabling myself or a system from backstreet surveillance for around $600 and install myself or a amcrest system from Amazon for like 300+ and install myself.

I am a new homeowner with 2 small children and a front yard and door about 12 feet and a back yard with a gate around 40 feet to protect and feel safe.

I am sorry for the poor grammar as it is 1230am but someone was going near my yard 2 days ago and I wanted my wife and kids to feel safe.

Any recommendation would be great

The costco NVR's are made by hikvision(swan) or dahua (lorex)..however they dont sell the turret camera design which is superior to the bullets. Amcrest is made by dahua, however, I would not buy from them. They are the successor company to foscam.us a US foscam distributor that left their customers hanging.
Dont by the analog systems. Make sure its IP.

Dahua or Hikvision purchased via eBay (or AliExpress if comfortable). Buy the matching NVR also. It wuld be wise to get one larger than your needs at the moment. Run the ethernet lines. Plug and play!

The Dahua 4431C are a nice turret and offer a 3.6 or 6mm lens. Both could work well for you. You will be well under the quotes offered, better off knowing all the details of te system and plenty of money remaining to buy a few more cameras, large HDD, outdoor lighting, locks, etc.
