I'm going to write up a thread for the camera system that I'm looking to put together for my parent's new place soon, but until then, I have one question...

Do the non-vari-focal lensed Hikvision IP cameras have auto-focus? Or do they only have a manual focus adjustment? I can't seem to find an answer on Hikvision's website, or from a quick search of the forums. The camera that I am currently looking it is the DS-2CD2042WD-I.

Thanks,
Mike

I thought most all wide fixed lens set focus to infinity. No autofocus...

I don't believe that the DS-2CD2042WD-I has a way to manually focus.

@dalepa there is some truth to your statement. In order to have true "auto focus" you need mechanical movement as auto focus implies and requires "movement" in order to focus.

The correct term really is fixed focus for this application however based on the simplicity of the question I felt it only required a simplistic answer. The Infinity focus term is/was something used in the SLR camera lens realm.

My apologies if I caused any confusion, I was just trying to overly simplify.
