Motion events not showing up

I have a bunch of Dahua and non-Dahua cameras on my NVR708S-128-4KS2.
Does the motion detection and thus recording get triggered by the camera only?
In other words, can the NVR sense motion detection independent of camera settings?

In your's NVR motion detection can be only done on cameras.
More modern NVR have local AI capability - they can analyse real time video feed from camera to find human / cars using AI functionality. But usually there is limit - on how many channels You can done this. Highest 600-XI line NVR's from Dahua can supports SMD AI detections up to 32 channels and IVS AI detection up to 24 / 32 (depending how many HDMI outputs are You using)
