Minidome Sound Recording

just bought a mini dome and was wondering how the sound recording works. do I just plug the cat6 cable into the camera as i normally would and the sound will be recorded using that cable or is there a different way

I have a Hikvision mini dome and the microphone is built in, you may have to enable the audio in your software.

audio is encoded along with video stream..

audio recording is more often than not illegal; check your local laws/regulations regarding wiretapping/eavesdropping.

in UK it is not illegal, actually I have given my footage to local police several times, and they are always impressed with the resolution and the fact it has audio, and they can here the criminals discussing their crime . my cctv footage has even been used in court when 2 thieves stole a motor bike, and parked up out side my house at 3am discussing how fun it was to steal the bike, the police then followed them on town cctv and caught and arrested them the same day I called 101 regarding youth on a motor bike with no helmet and leathers etc.
