I'm getting the Xeon E3-1245. I want to run VM for FreeNAS (Plex), Blue Iris, Windows Media Center and a test environment.

I'm leaning towards ESXi at the moment based on this guy's machine which is running XEON E3-1230V3. He's running 4 x 1080p on a Blue Iris VM with a whole lot of other VMs running. Seems to be doing well but definitely CPU intense:

Remember that you need to add the OS to the price of those systems...
Either of those systems with the xeon processor can handle your load....the ts440 is pretty large though.
Note also that dell is having an outlet sale..check out the dell outlet twitter page for 25-30% off coupon codes...
Here is an hp that scores about the same as the xeon - email the seller and check the serial number it should have the remainder of a 3 year next business day warranty.
HP Elitedesk 800 G1 Core i5 4570 3 2 GHz 8 GB 500 GB | eBay

The lenovo's are great as well...i have a ts130 in the office...

Thanks for the info and to all the rest that chimed in here.. I too am looking to buy a system at about the same price range (300-400 max).

Im thinking i5-4570 or E3-1225 v3. I see some barebones E3-1225 systems on Amazon for $350, but after buying the OS, extra ram, and hard drive caddy's (they don't come with any), theyre adding up.

Thinking about Ebay if I can find one with a decent amount of warranty still left...

Im also trying to find a 30% Dell code. What dell systems do you guys think are worth looking into for BI? Thanks.

Welcome to the forum...look at the dell optiplex systems with 3 year next business day warranties...if you are going to be using dual monitors look at the 7020 and 9020 that have dual display port out (instead of the vga/dp)...

Thanks. I only need one monitor but the 9020 optiplex with a 3 year warranty looks good. Im still looking for a code. The 25% and 30% off seem to be almost non-existent..

I did not know that! Thanks for letting me know. Any alternatives to FreeNAS that can run in VM environment and has ZFS capabilities?
Unfortunately I have no idea. There certainly are alternatives out there but I bet they have the same limitations.
