Welcome Francis,

Recommend avoiding domes outdoors, numerous problems reported by members using the outdoors.

Remember to check out the notes in the wiki
IPCamTalk WiKi | IP Cam Talk

In the wiki it's written .... "At this point there is no need to use cat6 cable with cameras." What does that mean some I've run cat6 cable already

It just means Cat5e will work for all PoE and PoE+ cameras but Cat6 will work fine and will not heat up quite as much as Cat5e when using the higher power PoE+ cameras so Cat6 is better just a little more expensive which is why some would avoid it still.

any recommendations for a good outdoor camera for this system?

HI Francis,

Hit the Hikvision section, and ask for recommendations as most of the LaView kits I have seen in the USA are HIkvision OEM products, thus Hikvision OEM ( international ) models should work well - you will have to take some time of course to configure the ip/subnet/user+password/port settings.
