IPC-T5442TM-AS Encode Mode Auto Resetting

I have a strange problem where I set the Encode Mode to H264 on the IPC-T5442TM-AS cams and then 5 minutes later it automatically changes back to H265. Strange this is this happens on multiple cameras. No matter how many times I set H264, a few minutes later it automatically changes to H265. Any ideas how this can be happening?

Are you using a VMS like an NVR or BI, etc?

Are you making changes in the camera web gui and if so which browser?

I have them connected to both Blue Iris & Unifi Protect in addition to the Dahua NVR5432-16P-I. I dont see any options to change the encode mode settings in either of those platforms. And Im using FireFox on both Mac & Windows. Will give it a try with Chrome right now just to see if that changes anything.

You need to use Internet Explorer. Yeah we know but it is still available and is native to Windows.

We have seen instances where settings will not take correctly using other browsers.

It is also possible behind the scenes one of those VMS is sending a change.

For example, with the Dahua PTZs, many of us have seen the BI will turn on MD/SMD in the camera. Our workaround was to make it the least sensitive, one tiny block in the corner for detection, and a short time frequency.

Try taking one of the camera off of BI and Unifi and see if it still happens.

How to enable native Internet Explorer in Windows 10 and 11:

• Open Notepad:
  • Copy then paste the single line of code below into Notepad:
  • CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application").Visible=true
  • Save as OpenIE.vbs
• Make sure the the file name ends in .vbs not .txt, If it ends in .txt you must rename to .vbs
• Create a shortcut to the above file and double-click it anytime you want native Internet Explorer.

Pale moon 32 Bit browser can work as well for some settings changes.
