Comparison on YT here of the new Sony IMX 585 vs the Sony IMX 676 which was previously regarded as good in low light in what appears to be near total darkness. The difference is remarkeable. Unfortunately the video is only 720P & the darkness appears extreme looking at the noise levels and colouration. I have some doubts about the colour performance & whether the tint is a product of the sensor or partnering (I have seen this flat greeny tint in 2 separate demonstrations of the new sensor but it could just be how it was set up & the chipset it was used with):
I am very disappointed though that neither Hik nor Dahua have come up with a replacement for the 4kt given it's over 2 years ? since it's release and sensitivity seems to have moved on, even more so with AI image processing. It's 2025. Where's the advancement?
BTW I'm sure I saw a demo of the 585 somewhere where it as amazing in near total darkness with perfect colour, but I can't remember where, so for now, we'll have to assume when it's this dark, colour reproduction may not be the best and definition may also suffer. Without a comparison from a run of the mill sensor, it's difficult to know just how dark this was. It looks extreme though based on the 676 performance.
