I'm starting to plan out my IP camera installation and would like to run it by your fine folks to verify my thought process.
Main house has 6-7 cameras
Detached garage with 3-4 cameras
There is cat5e running out to the garage
Network is all gigabit
All 3 or 4mp turrent cameras
Blue Iris running on a spare PC (it's a Haswell i5 to get me started and I'll drop an i7 in later)
So my thoughts...
All cameras on the house connected to a POE switch that is then connected to the switch for the rest of the house
The cameras in the garage connected to a POE switch that is then connected to the cable going back to the house. (There is a PC and a wireless access point already in the garage)

Am I thinking right or is there a more preferred method? The only other thought I had would be to pull 3-4 new lines from the garage back to the switch in the house.

Thanks!

@ekaz There is no reason to pull extra lines from the garage...a switch will do the job.
