I just experienced an interesting detection scenario. An ATV when through zones DEF, but it didn't trigger. When testing DE triggered and F doesn't. I finally figured out that due to dust, the CENTER of the object never crossed through the zone. It turns out that as the dust rose from the road, the center of the object started moving backwards as the "object" got larger and larger until the ATV left the camera view.
In general principle, not sure I have any options other than to stop using zones that can be impact in this way. Potential option would be for the dev to allow front edge of object to be a selectable option.
