I need security camera help

I'm new to the security cameras and have some questions. What are the best brands of camera systems? What size lens should I use for around the outside of my house(2.8mm,4mm or 12mm)? Why is the security camera footage that I see on the news so poor? Are the systems on aliexpress any good? Thanks for the help
