How to correct dark face on doorbell cam without washing out the background.

On my Ezviz DB1 which faces North faces are dark while the background is perfect. What to adjust to correct?

Most likely you can't, adjust it for face captures and don't worry about the background. If you need to see the street, you need another camera.
Adjust the BLC if it has the option.
Or you will need to provide more light on the person's face.

Yes it does have BLC and I have played with that. Wish there was a way to turn it on/off with sunrise/sunset.

YOu can, just setup a night and a day profile in the cam.
