How do I get video off NVR?

I have this most excellent DHI-NVR608-64-4KS2 I bought from you earlier this year and finally setup it up with hard drives on my network. I has the 4.0 NVR software running on it as shipped. Using the web interface, I cannot see anyway to download recorded video clips off it. Two questions for you:
Q1) Can you show a way how to download video clips off the NVR over the network? (preferably as MP4.)
Q2) It is safe to allow this NVR to take the software updates from Dahua if available? (it wants to auto update.)

1- you need to use IE browser to see all of the controls.
2- see this clip starting at 2:46



3- Better yet, don’t use the NVR interface. Download and install SmartPSS. It also allows you to download as an mp4
