You need to manually export.

You cannot do it locally, but you can do it over the network using the RemoteNetBackup tool, it supports scheduling and works quite well.

Thanks I think its made by Hikvision, but searching their site yielded zero hits. Then are there other tools to choose from and is this remoteNetBackup just for Hikvision NVRs. Thanks in advance.

It's made by Hikvision, and supports only Hikvision devices. Actually I've only tested it with Hikvision DVRs, not with NVRs. Hopefully it will work with the NVRs too.
