Hi,
We are an installation company from Brisbane Australia.
We have installed thousands of Hik camera and are very experienced with them.
We have an issue currently where after a storm 6 months ago, a PTZ camera defaulted itself (during the storm). We found it in an 'inactive' state when we attended site.
We reconfigured the camera, and it worked fine for around 5 months, however it has now defaulted itself twice in the last month again.
What is the actual cause of this? We are looking for as much of a technical explanation as possible.
Looking online, all the discussion is regarding the camera being hacked/attacked or the firmware being faulty, however I don't believe this to be the case.
I am assuming that during the storm/power surge, some internal component of the camera where configuration/memory is stored was damaged, causing the camera to believe it is defaulted/has no configuration.
I could be wrong obviously.
We have also seen Ubiquiti Nanostations default themselves during the same storms as well. The nanostations where reconfigured and have worked fine ever since.
