Hello All,

We have a Dell Poweredge R710 Server with Intel Xeon X5650 2.67Ghz 12 core Processors, 144GB RAM, 10TB of SAS Drives. We have about 54 cameras on the system, the CPU is consistently hammered at 100% and never lowers from that. I have it running as a Windows Service. Any ideas on what to adjust on the machine?

What is your camera resolution? What frame rates. Are you recording direct to disk? regardless, you need to trash this system, its a power hog. Look at an i7-6700 that supports hardware acceleration for BI. Replacing the system will be cheaper than the electric bill.

Hello fenderman,

We are looking to get a machine with the following specs "Dell OptiPlex 5040 SFF i7-6700 6th Gen 8GB 500GB desktop W10 PRO." How many cameras would this solution support? Most of the cameras that are on the current installation are Vivotek and Arecont. We want to bring down the CPU.
