Hearing Aids...

My hearing sucks more and more. Damnit. They are de-regulated by the FDA now, and I started looking at hearing aids but Holy Crap-- it is a jungle of BS out there. I'd love to hear (ha ha) your experiences and advice on this before I part with any money...

Of all the junk mail I get, hearing aid promotions is by far the biggest single category. They even come enclosed with our telephone bill. Probably all of the old farts here have had friends who have gone through multiple "world's best" hearing aids. No direct help, just agreeing with the BS jungle part.

I got the Phonak brand thru the VA in Nov. of '23 and really like it. The model is the "Audéo P90-RL". There's a great app called myPhonak that allows custom setups for what it filters, change sensitivity, volume, etc. It comes with a desk charger you drop into each night. It's Bluetoothed to my Android phone just for the app but you can also set it up to let you talk on the phone, stream music from the phone or car radio, etc.

Comes with a nice kit to periodically clean the hearing aid, replace wax filters that protect the speaker, etc.

I paid for it with my military service but I have a feeling it's not cheap. I have no idea, just that I really like it and have no complaints.

Here's the updated model =>> Audéo Infinio

Those run about ~$1,300...

I could be wrong but that seems to be a decent price for an excellent hearing aid...I've heard of several that cost much more than that.

I bought the previous version of these 18 months ago, been very happy with them.
The audiologist I went to was pushing me towards aids that cost $5k.
By law, you have 45 days to return them if your not happy.
BB has them on sale on a regular basis.

check this out-- Sold and Shipped by Walmart (not some other supplier selling through Walmart)....

OK-- the item listed above is the old model. so is it worth $300 to go to the B2PLUS? Maybe...

AND RIGHT ON TIME.... there is a manufacturer promotion for Fathers Day taking another $150 off...

Bose has been a reputable and famous manufacturer in the audio field for many, many years now but I'm not so sure about their expertise in hearing aids. There's more to it, I would think, than just amplifying sounds and putting then in the ear. Based on that I would insure there was a way to try it out then return it if I was not pleased with it.

These are OTC hearing aids, and as I stated before, you have 45 days to return them by law.
These hearing aids come with a phone app, and you can adjust it to your liking, including frequency adjustments.
Lexie which is a large hearing aid manufacturer outside of the OTC market, They simply paid to use the trademark name Bose.

and that is EXACTLY what I will do. Test drive time--- I pulled the trigger on those. If I don't like them, I get to drive 220 miles to Costco and return them, and see if they have any good brisket to buy... ;)
