What can I do with the second NIC for my 4216? Can they be run on the same LAN or is the second to connect cameras on an isolated LAN, much like the PoE NVRs have a separate switch config?

One NIC is used by the NVR for local LAN connection. The second NIC is used by the NVR to connect to the cameras and keep them on their own LAN. They are already appropriated by the NVR for those specific purposes.
