DS-7608NI-SE/P can't add new camera

Hi all,

I'm helping someone who has the NVR DS-7608NI-SE/P, I've added a new camera DS-2CD2365G1-I to the system for them, the camera works fine stand alone from the browser, but its always showing as OFFLINE in the NVR camera management. I've tried using both HIKVISION and ONVIF protocol, but neither seem to work, it's always saying password failed, but I know the user/password are correct. I've checked the RTSP feed in VLC this works fine with the credentials.

NVR: DS-7608NI-SE/P
V2.3.7 build 131112

New Camera: DS-2CD2365G1-I
V5.6.2 build 190701

ONVIF

Any has this issue?

looking at the specs on the NVR it will only decode up to 5MP.

Decoding Resolution: 5 Mp/3 Mp / 1080p / UXGA / 720p / VGA / 4CIF / DCIF / 2CIF / CIF / QCIF

I'd have thought it would still connect, but come up with a stream error if the resolution was too high.
I did manage to use the RTSP feed directly and add that to the NVR, but doing it this way you can't set motion triggers. The NVR was able to pull the Main stream /Streaming/Channels/101 when viewing a single camera in full screen, however in the multi stream view the image wouldn't appear.

The NVR is from 2014, so probably time to update it anyway.
