DS-2CD2432F-IW no plug in Chrome

All, I would appreciate your help. I can view my DS-2CD2432F-IW through the hikivision app and through tinycam viewer. I can access the camera from my computers (mac, chromebook) but I can not see any video through either safari or the chrome browser. I am greeted with the no plug-in detected message when trying to see the live view. If I change the settings to MJPEG then I can see the live view but the pic quality is HORRIBLE.

I'm hard wired, running:

Firmware Version
V5.2.3 build 141024

Encoding Version
V5.0 build 140714

Also, what are the optimal video settings for this camera? Thanks!

Hard to say why the plugin will not load for you; probably you are missing something on-screen indicating it needs to install the plugin. I would guess either along the bottom of the Chrome window or on the right side of the address bar there is a button/icon that needs your attention.

Optimal video settings are a matter of opinion. Just play with the settings and google any terms you are unfamiliar with. MJPEG is a really bad video format and requires excessively high bit rates to compare in quality with h264.
