inquiring minds need to know? I plan on using the EVGA x299 dark with the intel X7920 processor and 32 gigs of Corisair dominator ram
does BI play nice with the new X299 chip

Sounds like prosumer stuff, basically high end motherboard ($290) and latest extreme processor (165W TDP, 16-cores, 32-threads)? I would think this would all be overkill for BI, use it for gaming and your old rig for BI unless you are planning to run some number of cameras I wouldn't dream of.

I am using Win7 laptop, i7-3520M @ 2.9Ghz and 16.0 GB RAM (vintage 2012, TDP 35W, 2-cores, 4-threads), and with 3 cameras and motion detect it runs 15% CPU and 4 GB RAM usage (only 500 MB of that is BI).
