Hi,
I just recently purchased one of these and I have a question about configuring the SMD4 to detect a human at the front door:

The photo below shows where the cam is mounted:



I only want to pick up smart motion at or near the front door as indicated by the area below:



However the smart motion detection is also picking up people walking along the footpath as shown here:





When I go into the menu for SMD, it doesn't give you an option on how to set the area for this type of detection:



Does anyone know how to set this up for my application?

Most here find that setting up an IVS rule is better than SMD.

Thanks for that. However, is there a way to just block out the detection from the area that I don't want to detect in?

Also, in terms of IVS, what would be better for this application? Tripwire or intrusion?

Yes, you set the area up under the motion detection. SMD builds upon the MD settings.

If that doesn't work they way you like, then try IVS and try both and see which one works better.

Agree to turn off MD/SMD and go to IVS

I’d draw an intrusion zone very similar to the yellow line drawing AND add a zig zag Tripwire inside of that box.
Redundancy is a thing and I use both on many scenes.
