I was doing some reading about PoE and it appears that there are two different PoE modes, Mode A and Mode B. In Mode A the power and data are sent through the same 4 wires and the other 4 wires remain spares. In Mode B the data is sent over 4 wires and the power is sent over the other 4 wires. From what I understand most PoE switches use mode A whereas most PoE injectors use Mode B.
1) Do we know what mode the 5231 Dahua cameras support/use? do they support both Mode A and Mode B?
2) Are there performance differences between using Mode B vs Mode A?
3) If my 802.3af PoE switch uses Mode A (it doesn't actually specify but it's most likely Mode A), would there be an advantage of getting a switch that is advertised as 'Mode B' instead? I've read that most 802.3at rated switches also support 'Mode B', are they better?
