Dahua NVR -- where to set pre-recording seconds for IVS rule

Just to add to the confusion...

All of my cameras, within the AI/IVS rule tab, have a "POST" record time. Mine is set to 10 seconds. I get that 10 seconds on ALL Devices

ON the NVR I have a Pre-record which is set to 5 seconds. I get that ONLY when using the AI search on the NVR

(I record everything full time + IVS)

To sum up for me
Post which is a camera setting works on playback on all devices for me

Pre- which is an NVR specific setting ONLY works on AI search on the NVR

What Pre is NVR specific setting? Humm Not in my cameras it isn't. But yeah another issue and why I wouldn't use Smart PSS it has the Zero Channel Exploit and I am not playing that game with more then just WebUI.. I have enough things to worry about, I don't need to add more issues lol..

You have PRE recording timer on your cameras themselves for AI/IVS?

And I think the exploit was resolved in SmartPSS last July and does not exist in SmartPSS Lite
.Anything earlier, in theory yes.

Well I didn't look at the file but I will, It was downloaded in March 2025 so not sure how I would get one that has the Exploit if it was fixed.. But ok.. I can't seem to find the file id for the one I am using but I setup in Monitor Mode for cameras and used to be that you could click the top right and go to settings and then at the bottom it would show the ID or version of one installed but I can't find it but this is the background and the Exploit is there on this version.. That was DL from DH website back in March..

About being IVS specific No but the Pre-Record is setup for all events as a pre record or at least how it is working on my Micro SD installed cameras.. none of them start at the time of event all start and I can count out the 5 seconds.. So must be part of the Pre record settings as well..

Pre record for Events ON THE INTERNAL SD card. yes. I dont rely on that for day to day reviewing of video. eek

I guess I'm not familiar with the "exploit" but I'm using the last "Good" version from 2023 3/30. I use it ALL day long and my firewall appliance sees nothing its not supposed to do

What is interesting and I have never looked much at as I just leave them setup as they are most times. But I wonder what would happen if someone made the change from as yours shows 5 min in NVR was setup for 4 camera set to 5, DMSS only had option showing of 0-5 I wonder what would happen if someone did put that on 10 or 20 pre record and DMSS would handle that lol?

About what I am talking about, Zero Channel that can watch what I am doing.. No thank you. To the point of adding in other users, putting in my pattern. If i want someone to know my pattern I will tell them to be able to spy on me using that Zero Channel Exploit is BS.. Adding in a New user changing my password or another users password all of it can be seen as you can see in the picture below..

So Don;'t allow others access to your NVR and dont use Channel 0 on a NVR that you have given said access

I'll try.

I think the problem is its a mistake to think every feature and setting will be identical and cloned across NVR, /Camera, /SmartPSS, /DMSS,
(across lets say 7-10 years as my NVR is 2017, SmartPSS 2023, DMSS 2024, Cameras range from 2019-2025)
with hundreds of models and many settings that are camera and/or NVR specific.

That and using DMSS as a primary management device.

But it is clear in this case that not all devices in that mix can see or acknowledge Pre/Post rules

Most of my NVRs are setup with Zero Channel Enabled without having the ability to turn on or off. My DVRs will only change the display but will not display the DVRs Menus or my password or patterns so I am good there and they have ability to turn on or off find that funny.. The NVRs yes.. Only way to cure this is to give them access with out having some of the channels setup in Permissions..

edit: I don't use DMSS for setup normally only use for live feeds and playback 10% of the time..

Or don’t use channel 0? ;)

I guess it’s designed to reduce bandwidth required for monitoring a lot of channels simultaneously (I don’t use it)
But gee I can monitor 32 (maybe more i haven’t tried) using SmartPSS and substream now in my laptop ..?

Well to be fair I think it is important to have the ability to access a remote device using Zero Channel. I just don't like the idea that it can see the menus of the Recorder in real time.. Meaning.. While I am on the east coast, I love to have access to a Zero Channel that lets me have access to the NVRs channels for viewing the cameras live stream of my devices on the West coast.. But anything other then that I personally find a Flaw that they are saying is to help the person at the main unit.. NOPE.. BS.. Just like I don't like the idea of another flaw that some NVRs and DVRs have.. IF your NVR tells you to turn it off after you go to shut it down and able to shut down remotely there is something very bad that can happen there as well. VERY BAD..
