Dahua NVR purchase advice - would like latest software/interface

Hi

I'm hoping someone can help me, I've realised some issues I've had with my NVR4416 are because it's from 2016 and probably never had a software update from the day it was set up, I've tried to update without success and it seems doing this now could cause some issues, so I've going to upgrade and buy a new NVR, I'll stick with Dahua as my cameras are Dahua and I have some experience from using the system.

I can't find anything specific on the forum but did see that there is some later software on the latest Dahua NVR models that is a step forward, and more user friendly, it looks like just simply buying a new NVR does not guarantee the NVR is the latest model. It looks like I may be better to spend a but more to get the latest version.

I've seen in another post that the DHI-NVR5216-16P-EI would be running the latest software, is this correct?

Are there any lower models I could look at that would also have the latest software? I find the model numbers confusing and the suffixes seem very important in terms of spec.

Thanks in advance

You didn't wrote how many and what cameras You have?

all 4xxx-EI and 5xxx-EI are current NVR line-up, with cyclic firmware upgrades and added new features.

5xxx-EI have 2x more AI power (to add SMD or IVS to old cams), higher network bandwidth and 2x more decoding capability (to display cams over HDMI) compared to 4xxx-EI.. It supports a few more AI functions...

If you had 4 hard drives in 4416, then You should choose 4 hard drive models (4416-EI or 5416-EI)..

Hi

Thanks for the reply, my current cameras are IPC-HDBW5421E-Z which again I think are from 2016 but they've been a huge leap forward from the system I previously had, and the zoom lens is fantastic. I currently only have 3, but am looking to expand as I'm currently running my original analogue system separately, so I've decided on a 16 channel NVR with 16PoE to avoid needing a switch at this stage. Cameras appear a whole different world but I'm looking to install an ANPR setup in the future, as well as some others focussing on low light picture quality.

I'd like to have approx 7 days storage, so was thinking 2 HDD's, and was going to start with an 8TB drive.

So it looks like it's the 'EI' suffix I need to look out for?

Dont forget the 5xxx-XI which is newly released. I imported mine. Whereas many functions on the -EI are limited to 1 or 2 cameras, the -XI does them on all channels.

Well worth a look, and in my view, worth a bit of hassle to import and wait a month.

Edit: I run the 5208-8P-XI (two drive, 8 POE ports)

Hi
Thanks for replying, strangely I had recently printed out the XI specs and was comparing them to the EI, and noticed the same thing so was leaning towards the XI, on the assumption it also had the new interface.
I've currently gone down the rabbit hole of looking at other brands and questioning what functions I'll actually end up using, although unless going basic low functionality, the prices appear fairly similar.
