Dahua nvr camera status problems

I sold my older Dahua NVR and older cameras that were running fine on that system. Buddy has hooked up couple cameras and we can't get them to come online. The registration status is red x. First thing that comes to mind is I had 2 hard drives. if I took first one and left the one in second position would that matter? He can see it in the system tab under storage.

Eliminated new cables he is using, that was the only thing that changed from me to him.

Missing HDD wouldn’t cause the cameras to not be recognized…

The hard drive shows in the storage tab on nvr . But I think it is in the second position on board. Would that matter?

Don’t know for sure… still shouldn’t affect viewing camera live
