I'm noticing that the older 4216-4k costs more than the 5216-4ks2. From the specs, it looks like with one exception the 5216-4ks2 is equal or better. The exception is that the 4216-4k has 2 additional alarm inputs, and one additional output (6+3, vs 4+2). It doesn't make sense to me that the 4216-4k costs more, so I figure I'm missing something. Does anybody know what I'm missing?

its just old stock at this point so they trying to make money off people just wanting to replace what they have or deploy more systems that are identical to what they are already running.

The 5216-4kS2 is the better one; I do like the alarm inputs on my 4216-4k but even im not using em all (yet).. the 5216-4kS2 was announced right after I bought mine or I'd of probably had waited.

Nayr--is the 5216 better enough to wait for versus a discounted 4216 though (Andy @ empire... is willing to sell me a NVR4216-16P-4KS2 for $240)? I asked about the 5216 but he doesn't have any at the moment...
