I used to record Motion clips separately to 24/7 clips. I'd store 24/7 clips for 30 days, and then keep the motion clips long term

This idea had the downside of double recording, but the upside that keeping clips long term was quite easy as the storage needs were greatly reduced

Now, I'm recording 24/7 with Alerts in them to find motion. This improves overall performance, and gets rids of double recording. The problem is that it does require more space to get long term storage. I'm recording a lot of useless clips. For instance at night inside my garage, past 30 days this footage is useless

Is there a way I can cut out out clips that don't contain motion, after 30 days?

Are you using substreams? This increase's storage capacity greatly.
Let BI handle clips by size, not by days.
No need to micromanage it.

I'm not using sub streams, I find I often need to go look at the 24/7 footage when something has happened down the road and the sub stream is not good enough quality

Perhaps I just need to accept I need to buy more storage! I'm only at 20TB right now
