Critique my tentative system build please

Hi all,

Pretty new to the surveillance systems, but an 'IT guy' by trade, so once I have decent equipment, I should be good to go...but selecting good equipment is proving to be a real challenge!

I'm putting together a simple setup for a non-tech savy co-worker...with that in mind, I'm considering this:

Dahua NVR1104-P
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B...e=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1L4LS2KNDBWYV&tag=ipctk-20

2 Dahua DH-IPC-HFW1100S HD

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...re=dahua_ip_camera-_-9SIA6013894092-_-Product

2TB HD

The whole package will cost ~$450

I think the NVR will be fine, it's the camera selection that is giving me trouble. Am I restricted to Dahua cameras? I can't find any compatibility info on the NVR, and it seems my choices are slim when limited to Dahua. Are the cameras listed considered 'decent' for outdoor day/night use, or are they already relics? I need to reach a circle drive way from 2 different angles, each roughly 50' from the camera positions.

Thank you for any input, it's much appreciated!

How much extra is the HFW2100RZ or HFW2200RZ ? They have motorised zoom and not too much more here and will help with your driveway 50 foot away.

NVR fine, not restricted to Dahua but stick to Dahua if you are buying a Dahua NVR, especially as a newb.

Those cameras are decent but 50 foot, I'd rather have the 2200 unless it's really dark then the 2100 is better.

If I can't find either model for sale, what feature(s) am I looking for that the 1100 doesn't offer?

Also, I've found a few articles online that warn to not purchase Chinese versions of the NVR as you won't be able to upgrade firmware...is that true?

Del Boy, I saw you mention LTS would be your NVR/system of choice were you recommend a system. My main concern, as I research more and more, is where the unit is coming from as knock-off firmware seems to be a large concern. Is milkisbad still the guy to contact for LTS gear? Sorry for the double post, should my first eventually appear...
