Getting the hang of it

I am living in a state that decided to use 3M printed license plates with white lettering on a blue background, making it hard for the security camera to read them at night. I am considering adding in a Raytec VARIO2 w2 Illuminator to help me read plates in color. I want to set it up so that the light only turns on when a vehicle is passing by, similar to what was done by @wittaj at Gotcha 3M Printed Plates at Night - LPR.

After reading through the specs, I noticed that the B52IR Alarm Output uses a wet contact (300mA 12V DC) while the Raytec Telemetry Input uses a dry contact (volt free). Do I need something in between to get them connected safely?

Interesting.

I didn't even notice that.

I suspect it is so small that it doesn't matter?

I simply connected the alarm output wire to the RayTec input and it worked and is still working fine.

Thanks for your feedback wittaj. The current is only 300 mA so maybe my worries are unwarranted. The illuminator is expensive and I don't want to kill it or the camera by hooking them up the wrong way.
