Smart cat.... could have been a Pepe Le Pew moment!
I 100% thought the cat was going to get sprayed not the skunk try and go face to face with the cat.
I think it is breeding time here in Central Texas. I got up at 0400 the other day to let my dog out...noticed her hair was standing up and she took off. Thank GOD she stopped. One BIG ASS Skunk in my back yard and couldn't have given two shits about my dog. Tail was at full mast, just casually walking along the fence. I was lucky enough to STOP my dog half way there and call her back. Full grown skunks can be much larger then what people think they.
