I love electric cars. Actually, I was one of the first owners of Leaf as well as Volt but only last week for the first time I drove Tesla X P90D which has a sticker of $150k. If you are into bells and whistles it's the car to get, especially amazing thing about it is the quietness and acceleration which is out of this world even though sedan is faster, but... I feel like it's not worth the sticker price. You are essentially overpaying close to $100k for what you can get in a gas burner.

Personally, I would much rather get BMW 740 plug-in hybrid but will most likely settle on Mitsubishi Outlander plug-in

ultimate car? that's easy: Atom 500

nicest car I've owned: 2003 Audi RS6

my current fleet:
2013 VW Golf TDI
2010 VW CC 2.0
2001 VW Golf VR6 Turbo (>400hp)
2000 Jeep Wrangler 2.0
1975 VW Westfallia Bus
1993 Suzuki DR350

See a trend?

Current project is installing a radiator in the Westfallia and putting a diesel engine in it out of a 2001 Beetle.. when that's done I'll be putting the same engine into the Jeep.

I have a W126 300SD Turbo Diesel. Terrible car the one I have (no HVAC, not all the windows work, etc) but the diesel motor is only 213k miles young. Great car.

I prefer the older ones, too. German if I can help it.

in fact I've seen more fisker on the road than the early Tesla .

ive even seen more electric beetles than I have 2-seat Teslas !!

i too am a German car guy .
specifically ones with the engine in the "wrong place"

where will you mount the rad nayr ?
i used to know a couple of people back in England that made 1.9 buses .
one out front like a "Brazilian polo" , and the other underneath between chassis rails .
