I have 5x HikVision cameras successfully set up and running on my home network. Camera model DS-2CD2342WD-I . I have not set up recording yet. Would like to do this without having to keep my iMac powered up 24x7. I'm new at this so bear with me. ... if I set up NAS and configure the application to record will it continue to record when I turn the computer off?
Can I record 24x7 without SDK running?

Yes. I have the same model. I originally set up to use samba shares on different PCs. Now the main recording goes straight to a DVR and my NAS is a redundatant copy. I use NFS on the NAS for the copy. The redundant drive NFS copy does not have to be the same capacity as the primary copy (a 6TB in the DVR), in fact I only use 256GB for the NFS for a few days capture.
