I have a set of 6 Hikvision bullet and dome 4MP cameras from 2016 covering my house grounds in wide angles. NVR is DS-7608NI-K2-8P . They all work fine as a deterrent and generic coverage.
I want to add a single camera covering a particular area which is the approach road in much more detail. I would like something that will detect, track, zoom into, autofocus on and continue to track, humans and vehicles. Zooming to sufficient detail that they are filling a large part of the frame, to give a reasonable chance of identification, which there isn't with the ones I have. Traffic levels are sufficiently low that one car or person at once is enough.
because of my road layout (cul-de-sac) cars are always going slowly. 15mph max.
want to cover an area between 10 and 40M away from the camera in a 100 degree arc, mounted on a house wall at approx 4M off the ground.
I've seen a number of models around the £500 price point (I'm in the UK) that might do the job, but I am not knowledgeable enough to make the choice. I do not want to spend more than that.
I am not wedded to hikvision - obviously not going to replace the 6 I have, and would naturally tend towards hikvision again, but if better to get this one from a different vendor I am open to that.
I also use homeassistant so storing recordings via that rather than the hikvision NVR is an option (if it makes sense).
first order question is the camera though.
any advice appreciated
thanks
