Hi, following some reseach here on IPCamTalk and a thread I initiate a few days ago, in the end I ended up buying a IP dome Hiwatch series Hikvision sku. HWI-T641H-Z, (2560 × 1440p), 4.0 Megapixel, varifocale motozoom 2.8~12mm optic. This will be my test rig for a few weeks and will help me decide where to locate cameras and what focal length I'll need. Maybe I should have bought the 2MP version that has a slightly larger sensor? Despite me not liking the idea of a chinese brand, half owned by the chinese governement, I'll stick it on a virtual lan that is restricted to accessing internet so I should be fine.
I had found an AXIS M3106-L MK II DOME POE 4 MP 2688 x 1520 on ebay at 40% more price but I think that, although the quality is likely to be better and is not chinese, I felt I was getting a lot more functionality with Hikvision at a lower price. What I don't understand is how can companies like AXIS still be in business with all this chinese competition.
