Hello,

I have been running Blue Iris 5 for several years on Windows 10 without a problem, started as a Windows service. Currently on 5.8.1.5 (latest stable).

Recently upgraded to Windows 11 (on the same PC), and while I can still start Blue Iris interactively, it fails to start as a service. I can see the following events from Event Viewer:
Code:

+1^^^.
I've given up on "upgrades" way back there, like XP to Vista, Vista to Win 7, etc. Too often there seemed to be a piece of the old O/S hangin' around that caused an issue with the later version of Windows or with a pre-existing software package, like Blue Iris.

MS Media Creation Tool on a USB stick, boot up, I even wipe-out all the old partitions, done in less than 15 minutes...quick and clean...bada bing, bada boom!

Same here; not a big fan of 11's menus, etc. :headbang:
I have been using start11 with windows 11 to deal with that and the never combine taskbar issue. MS just started allowing never combine on w11 with the latest release....sick puppies waiting so long to fix this despite thousands of requests...otherwise w11 is fine.

Big fan of Stardock since Start8, installed maybe a dozen or more of them and Start10's; just installed Start11 for a client a few weeks ago.
Great product, great price.

Exception code: 0xc0000005 is a violation access error, most commonly a security issue.

Service account and password are either the same as one used to install BI or an administrate one?

Thanks for the feedback.

Could not get back to this until today. Really did not want to reinstall, so tried to mess with the service user password, no change. Then went back to the Startup pane in BI settings and noticed that service startup was not enabled, despite the service still existing. Enabled the service startup there, got a dialog prompting to enter username/password for the service and confirmation that service was enabled. Shutdown the UI, started the service and it started fine. Confirm that post reboot, service now autostarts. So it seems that BI had to reinitialize its service and post that, seems to be back in business.
