Maybe it is time to switch to amazon cloud hosting?

My company has a user@mycompanyname.net type of address that are gmail imap accounts that was setup before the google+ days. And we have never had a single issue because it's google. I use thunderbird to bring down my emails from a gmail server and also able to web view my email threw gmail.com web address. And everything syncs up automatically.

The domain is mapped to the gmail servers for email. And our main domain (name only) is parked at godaddy ;(. But I didn't have anything to do with that. Our website is on a computer box server with ssd's that belongs to us sitting at a local company that sells access to their optical lines.

The domain email threw gmail wasn't that hard to setup because google has tons of tutorials. But I think you have to have google+ to do it these days.
