Blue Iris and a NVR

Can Blue Iris view the output of a NVR?

I have a client with a SPECO nvr connected to (5ish) cameras, and I was hoping to use the BI software to view the cameras over the crappy SPECO software.

Basically can BI view a NVRs output?

Each camera set up to view will make the nvr more and more sluggish. When I tried viewing my 4 cams from my Avtech NVR... 1 camera was great, 2 was sluggish, three was a joke, and 4 wasn't going to happen. Just bogged the nvr right down...
 
You can attached the cameras to a poe switch then have blue iris and the nvr both pull streams direct from the camera. or just trash the nvr.
 
Ya, thinking I am going to remove the NVR, install BI on the server and his desktop and be done with it. Would be the smarter move and everything would work a hell of alot better than the current setup/
