Hi
As a DIYer, I applaud your efforts. That being said, using wireless 2.4/5Ghz devices is a bit complicated as spectrum analysis and find tuning is the key.
My advice is try to use the cabled option instead of wireless however below is my advice on wireless.
Setting up a wireless network using the standard PnP is easy however, given the explosion of devices using the same licensed frequencies usually pose problems post installation. "Noise" in the area is not constant and needs to be reviewed periodically for optimal bandwidth.
Line of sight is a must however there are instances where the Station/Client can see the Access Point however you will still have loss of packets, i.e impeding the Fresnel zone (see attached pic)
Signal strength too low as well as too high (db) poses issues (you want to keep to approx (-50db between -40 to -60 db)
Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI) and Signal to Noise ration is essential
Connecting to the ST or AP must be with STP CAT6 cables with a good earth connection.
Lastly, try to use a spectrum analyser at the site, once you have calculated / designed the project
before starting the installation.
Hope this helps.
