Hey guys, I'm looking at maybe getting this for my dad so he can track/watch his dog in his yard when he's not home.

However, I notice that it doesn't have any built-in pet tracking (only humans and vehicles).

He's running a BI system and currently has 9 Dahua cameras using CP.ai for alerts. This is working beautifully detecting his dog.

My question: Even though we know that BI is technically capable of recognizing a dog when the camera lacks this built-in functionality, is there a way to get this PTZ camera to auto-track the dog through BI?

This would either make or break the purchase for me.

Alternatives welcome.

If you have a current version of BI, then read the help file on this.
It was improved in a recent ver.
I have, and it doesn't really answer my question. It just deals with manual control and presets.

So again - is it possible to have BI 'auto track' an object detected by CP.ai through a PTZ camera?

I have that camera and it tracks dogs and other small animals well. My auto tracking is set up in the camera via AI-IVS rules using tripwires and intrusion rules. I have both Human and Motor vehicles checked. I use Blueiris but have no settings within the software pertaining auto tracking as I have not updated in a couple of years and am not familiar with its newer settings.

Wow, so even though there's no specific setting for animals, it still just tracks your dog as it would a human? No additional setup/workaround in BI needed?
If yes, then I presume that it doesn't auto-zoom?

I does auto zoom. Here are 3 screen captures that I through together to give you an idea. The possum was at night using IR. No alarm or motion detection set in camera. Only PTZ movement trigger turned on and IVS set up with various rules.

Wow that's great!

Why wouldn't Dahua advertise this? You'd think it would be a selling point!

How do you view/record the footage from the alert? BI?
If so, do you set the camera up as 'external trigger'?

It is not tracking a specific thing like an 'animal', it is simply detection and processing a change in scene or movement. In Blueiris I use its built in 'Motion sensor' and/or 'ONVIF/camera events. It can be a challenge to keep false alerts down but my cameras all record continuous.

Couldn't you turn BI's motion sensor off, and simply use the trigger from the camera's IVS tripwire to create an alert in BI?
