Audio issues with the DS-2DE2A404IW-DE3, no specific references for the LineIn. Is it Mic level or line level audio? External Louroe Verifact mic

I had been assuming that this was mic level audio, so I picked up a Louroe A-ML. But, I'm not getting anything from the Mic when connected to the camera's AudioIn and AudioGround. If I hook up a cheap Watashi mic that has a 12vdc input from a PoE splitter though, I am able to get audio into the camera. I've tried wiring the mic to the camera in every way possible, but I am not having any results.

I didn't realize it at the time of ordering the Mic, but the camera does have 12v output, but this particular mic isn't rated for 12vdc, but the Verifact A is.

Am I a moron and ordered the wrong mic? LineIn to me meant that it would take an external microphone, and that it wasn't necessarily Line level audio that it wanted.

I received the camera but I didn't know if it has a microphone.

Then I read that:
DS-2DE2A404IW-DE3/W is equipped with built-in microphone and WiFi&PoE functions.
DS-2DE2A404IW-DE3 does not have these features.

I didn't have a built-in MIC, but had a small lavalier mic that I cut the wire for and soldered to the camera wires
The red wire (signal) of the microphone is connected to the white audio-in wire.
The microphone cap wire (ground) is still connected to the black audio-gnd wire.

I protect the microphone with a tube (wind, rain, ...) and there is also a paralon. I put it all in the junction box. I can hear very well, also how the motor rotates in the camera, its gears, etc. lol

I added it with a bracket for fastening to the pipe (I tightened it for the box). It is interesting that the central thread is not metric, so I borrowed the adapter from the photo stands.

I will supply the power through POE, I read on the camera that 37V is needed there, then 57V, I bought and am waiting for TL-POE160S | PoE+ Injector. For now, in test mode, I am powered by the 12V DC that came in the kit.

Check and tell us exact model you have. DS-2DE2A404IW-DE3 was and is available in many versions, newest is DS-2DE2A404IW-DE3(C0)(S6)(C), and it has built-in mic and line in, not "mic in", so you need some pre amp. Model can be with or without wifi /W. It does not have 12VDC output, some mic modules works as electret (i only know ones from Metel), these do not need 12V.

As far as i remember there was one version DS-2DE2A404IW-DE3 without built-in mic, but it was few years ago, cant remember which one.
