Android Phones....

Just an FYI, I have an S9. I rooted that baby and removed needless bloatware a LONG time ago...

I use to root every phone that I could. In fact the ability to root the phone was one of the biggest factors in deciding which phone to purchase. That being said, I have not rooted my Pixel 6 phone since purchasing it nearly a year ago. Really the only thing I do miss is the Advanced Charging Controller that allowed me to stop charging my phone at 80% automatically. I currently use a non-root app that notifies me when the charge gets to 80%, but can't stop it automatically. Truthfully that is good enough about 95% of the time and I simply unplug my phone. Most of the things (apps or ROMs) that I would root a phone for are either not available anymore or already built into Android. I think a lot of projects have withered because Google continues to change their OS is an effort to make it "more secure" and it has made development harder. I'm still going to buy phones that openly allow me to unlock and root the phone if needed, but I have to admit that I probably won't going forward unless something incredible comes along.
