Getting the hang of it

I have two IP2M-841B-V3 cameras inside my home connected to smart outlets that only power them on when no one is home. When they are powered on and I check them in the Android app, I have a black screen that says "Failed to connect." If I select the gear icon for the camera in the app, scroll down to "RESTART," and then close the app and reopen it, the camera will be connected, and I can see the video. It is the same if I decide to power them up when I am at home. I need to go into Blue Iris and select "Restart Camera." The cameras are set to record at all times, but if I don't restart them after leaving home, I can't get any video recordings. Is there a way to get them to automatically reconnect to Blue Iris after powering back on?

Instead, set up Home and Away profiles to manage recording as desired. Then toggle the profiles as needed.

The profiles can be changed via the BI app, UI3, or automated using a HTTP interface command. Camera presets can also be used to trigger profile changes.

If you did not configure the IP2M-841 camera with a unique, static IP in the same subnet as the BI server's LAN and outside of the router's (if any) DHCP pool, a feature in BI since version 5.6.2.0 of Sep 23, 2022 that provides MAC address in discovery and status may have issues finding the camera's previous IP upon restart, especially since one needs to set either the wireless NIC or the wired NIC as "default' in the configuration.

I would uncheck that MAC discovery feature for that camera's configuration page in BI. My BI version is too old to send you a screenshot or provide the exact wording.

Neither of my two 841's have reconnect issues with the wireless and we have brief power outages which restart the cameras at least monthly.
