You guys probably get this a 100 times a day but I am a noob in video just need some recommendations please. I am looking for a small system for outside home surveillance/recording. Just want a couple of decent cams that have good night vision and can hold up in the elements as I am in Buffalo, NY. My current setup I have right now is a Hp Server with tons of storage / Cisco POE switch / (I'm a network engineer) so back-end maybe not an issue. I was thinking of running Blue Iris with POE cams. I would do wireless but still need power and easier to run cat6

Your hardware you have now sounds good ! Check out the dahua starlight section ...

Don't do anything wireless always run cat6 you should understand this if you setup networks

What cpu does your hp have ? runnng BI and Poe cameras sounds great, again check out starlight camera
