Action Cam

Tried it with a GoPro. All but unusable picture at night. Closest is a Mobius (which is dual purpose) or another RC cam but night time performance is key. Many Action Cams get hot if run for long periods and batteries cameras don't fare well as dashcams both due to heat and constant charge / discharge cycles - capacitor based cams are better.

For me too many cons for an action cam.
Lots of pros for a dedicated Dash Cam.
  • Ability to auto start/record
  • continue to record after you stop vehicle
  • motion detection
  • map overlays
  • speed data
  • collision/impact detection
  • timestamps
  • D/l footage over network, without removing SD card.

The Git3 with plug in gps can do all of this

It can act as a basic ip cam as well, althought the Git2 does a slightly better job as it can conenct up to wireless network

Git1/2/3 all have dashcam use integrated as one of their main features.

A good capacitor cam is GitF1C, no screen thoug, more like a mobious
