4MP Hikvision or Dahua cameras

Are you (Nelly's Security) getting any of the new 4MP Hikvision or Dahua cameras? I could use a few in the 6mm lens range!

Hey Guys, we are currently testing this one http://www.dahuasecurity.com/products/ipc-hdbw4421f-1001.html. So far, from my short time with it the 2532F-IS still produces a better quality picture @ 1080p. I haven't tested 4MP vs 3MP yet.

No news on when we'll be carrying the new Hikvision or Dahua cameras as of today. I can promise you though, once we get them in, IPCT will be the first to know.

Interesting. If the 4mp cam doesn't do as well as a 3mp cam when both are scaled down to 2mp then either the scaling algorithm is poor or the sensor is.

Can you be more specific when you say it produces a better picture at 1080p than at 4mp?

What I meant was I did a 1080p comparison with both cameras at that resolution and the Hikvision looked more crisp and detailed. I haven't tested the 4MP mode just yet.

In general Ryan, what do you prefer, hikvision or Dahua? Do you install on a regular basis or just sell?

Personally I prefer Hikvision products. Their performance, features, and overall picture quality gets the win for me. Dahua is excellent too but in my opinion they still have a lot of improvements they need to make before getting my vote.

I do tech support and sell. I've installed a few cameras before but don't do it consistently.
